As a mobile catering company, we have been some pretty cool places and served espresso and coffee at some pretty amazing events. One of our favorite events so far this summer was The Dr. Oz Healthy Heart Clinic this past weekend at the Atrium at Harborside located on Jersey City’s waterfront. Jersey City was Dr. Oz’s first stop on his national campaign to raise awareness for his chief concern- the Health of America’s Heart.
Participants had their Blood Pressure, Cholesterol, and Waist Measurements taken (The three numbers that Dr. Oz would like Americans to be more cognizant of) and analyzed. A conveniently provided printout helped demonstrate these results. Guests were also exposed to various of heart demonstrations, nutritional guidance, and complimentary herb plants and general information about local heart healthy programs and even the opportunity to meet Dr. Oz!
Our favorite part of the day was providing guests with freshly prepared smoothies- Dr Oz’s Heart Healthy Smoothies to be exact. We have provided the recipe below.
Dr Oz’s Heart Healthy Smoothie Recipe
Ingredients:
1/2 cup blueberries (fresh or frozen)
1/4 cup strawberries (fresh or frozen)
1/2 cup unsweetened orange juice
1/2 cup fat-free plain yogurt
1 tsp chia seed
1 ripe banana
Directions: Add all ingredients and ice into the blender. Blend until ice cubes have become very fine.
Dr. Oz’s recipe is delicious, nutritious and easy to make at home! We were honored to have been part of such a great day that helped raise awareness about heart health healthy living. The combined efforts of Dr. Oz, his staff, the city of Jersey City, The Jersey City Medical Center, and Barnabas Health ensured that all the participants had an amazing and informational day.
